It'd been too long since I'd left the city, so this past weekend I made the two-hour drive with a couple of friends to the small town of Woodstock, Virginia (don't worry, I'd never heard of it either). We stayed in an enormous cabin/mansion on a sprawling property that seemed to go on forever, and it was like adult summer camp. The weather was pretty gloomy, but warm enough to still get out and hike during the day. And at night we drank wine, hot-tubbed, played guitar and made s'mores around a fire. Coming back into the city was definitely difficult. The good news? With the inevitable Sandy-induced power outage, chances are we'll be back to gathering around candles with wine and guitars soon enough.
